NHS Norfolk and Waveney ICB was the top ICB in the country in 2025/26 for patient referrals into the national Digital Weight Management Programme, achieving 187% of its target.
The NHS Digital Weight Management Programme is a structured 12‑week behavioural and lifestyle programme designed to support adults living with obesity who also have diabetes and/or hypertension.
Delivered online, it helps participants manage their weight, develop healthier habits, and improve their overall health through personalised, evidence‑based guidance.
In Norfolk and Waveney last year, 92% of GP practices referred 4,458 eligible patients into the programme.
72% of the referrals were enabled by funding from the NHS England Regional Team to support proactive engagement with patients.
The number of referrals the ICB achieved is already nearly equivalent to the new combined target in place for 2026/27 across Norfolk and Suffolk.
Dr Olga Emmerson, Director of Specialist Commissioning, said: “These results are testament to the hard work and dedication of the team and local GP practices. We look forward to building on this success to support patients right across our new footprint of Norfolk and Suffolk.”
