Norfolk and Suffolk ICB is working to align services in Norfolk and Waveney with those in Suffolk.
We are working to have the new services for weight management and complex obesity up and running as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience as we work towards launching this service across Norfolk and Waveney.
In the meantime, patients in Norfolk and Waveney can continue to access a range of weight management support services including:
Targeted support programmes (which are specific to support particular conditions):
- Healthier You (NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme)
- NHS Type 2 Path to Remission (Total Diet Replacement)
- NHS Digital Weight Management Programme
Universal support services available for those not eligible for targeted support programmes above
- Feel Good Suffolk (Waveney) – offers include targeted weight management services for people motivated to achieve a healthy weight and with a BMI of >30
- Ready to Change (Norfolk) – offers include targeted weight management services for Norfolk residents/people registered with a Norfolk GP and with a BMI of >30
- Better Health NHS
Specialist weight management services and prescribing of obesity management medications
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) is Norfolk is accessed through primary care
NHS England has developed the eligibility criteria in the table below to show which patients can be assessed for treatment with Mounjaro®.

| ‘Year 3’, lasting 15 months (2027/28 and 2028/29) | A BMI of at least 40* and three of the following conditions: hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus |
*BMI is reduced by 2.5 for people from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds and people with a Mixed ethnic background.

Semaglutide (Wegovy®) is also available via specialist weight management services.
Surgical treatment options for obesity are accessed via out-of-area bariatric centres. We are working towards enabling more local access.
