The Data Hub allows health and care organisations across the region to:
- understand people’s needs
- improve how we work together
- offer support before problems escalate.
The Data Hub serves as a secure and centralised library, housing a wealth of information about people’s interactions with our health and care services. The Data Hub doesn’t create more data, but instead aims to use what we already have more intelligently and more effectively.
The Data Hub turns information into action. For example, The Data Hub can:
- help identify people who are at risk of becoming unwell, falling into crisis, or being readmitted to hospital.
- highlight patterns that show where services are working well and where we can improve.
- help shape the way new services are designed, making sure they reflect the real lives and needs of local people.
Your privacy
The Data Hub doesn’t compromise privacy. Any information used is pseudonymised – which means personal identifiers are replaced with a secure code – or anonymised so no one can be recognised. Only in specific and carefully controlled circumstances, such as when there’s a safeguarding concern, can data be linked back to a named individual, and only by authorised teams.
Everything is governed under strict legal frameworks and overseen by a Joint Controller Group made up of representatives from the organisations involved.
Is there anything I need to do?
For most people, The Data Hub is invisible, and that’s by design. It’s there in the background, helping things run more smoothly, allowing care teams to be more proactive, and helping us make the most of the resources we have. But we also know it’s important that people understand what it is and how it works, and how they can have their say on it.
