Women across Norfolk and Suffolk can now access trusted health advice anytime, anywhere with a free NHS Women’s Health App.
Provided by the NHS Norfolk and Suffolk Integrated Care Board, the app offers clear, reliable information on all aspects of women’s wellbeing – from periods, contraception and pregnancy to menopause, pelvic health, cervical screening and sexual health.
The app also includes a new menopause symptom log, allowing users to track symptoms over time, spot patterns and better communicate what they’ve experienced during appointments or consultations with health professionals.
Developed in partnership with local patients and clinicians, the Women’s Health App is designed to help users better understand their bodies, bust common myths and know when and where to seek NHS support locally.
Lizzie Mapplebeck, who led the project for the Integrated Care Board, said:
“Knowledge is power, and we want to support women to take control of their wellbeing. The Women’s Health App gives women easy access to trusted NHS information and guidance, and the menopause symptom log helps turn personal experiences into something meaningful and useful during conversations with clinicians.”
The app builds on evidence from the 2021 national Women’s Health – Let’s talk about it survey, which highlighted significant gaps in women’s access to health information, particularly around menopause and gynaecological conditions.
Dr Lindsey Crockett, Suffolk GP and women’s health advocate, added:
“This app is a mine of useful and trusted information, and the new symptom log is a practical way of helping women describe what they’re going through and get the right support.”
Already available in Suffolk, the app has now been rolled out across Norfolk, ensuring more women can benefit from free, reliable NHS guidance.
The menopause symptom log includes language options in Polish, Romanian and Urdu, helping remove barriers for people who may find it easier to record symptoms in their preferred language.
The app is free to download via Google Play and the Apple App Store. Users can also scan the QR code on promotional materials or visit the dedicated webpage for download instructions.
