Mike is a practising GP with more than 25 years of experience in clinical leadership, healthcare policy development, and service transformation across local, system, and national healthcare settings.
As the Interim Executive Medical Director, Mike provides clinical leadership across the system, working with an outstanding team of clinical stewards, pharmacists, and clinical, quality and research colleagues drawn from primary, secondary and community care. Their expertise is central to how the ICB commissions, with clinical judgement shaping decisions from the outset. Mike’s portfolio spans clinical stewardship, medicines optimisation, quality oversight, population health management, palliative and end of life care, research and innovation, and the interface between primary and secondary care. He also holds statutory responsibilities, including Responsible Officer functions and Caldicott Guardian.
Throughout his career, Mike has led major initiatives focused on improving patient care, integrating services, and strengthening the relationship between primary and secondary care, and he sees building clinical leadership capability as one of the most important parts of the role.
Mike brings to the ICB a wealth of leadership experience, a track record of successful healthcare transformation, and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for patients and communities across Norfolk and Suffolk.
